If you yearn for an unrivalled African Safari experience, Chisomo Safari Camp on the Makhutsi River deep in the Karongwe Game Reserve in Limpopo, is your ideal destination. Chisomo Safari Camp offers a warm atmosphere, friendly staff and fine cuisine to complement the excellent Big 5 game viewing of the reserve. You will reach the Karongwe Game Reserve and the lodge after a scenic drive via the N4 motorway through eMalahleni (Witbank), Middleburg, Dullstroom, Ohrigstad and the JG Strydom Tunnel towards Tzaneen.
Chisomo Safari Camp lives up to its name (which means “blessings”) by combining memories of a bygone era with the warmth and vibrancy of a Safari in the Africa wilderness. Situated under towering knob thorn and jackalberry trees, the camp accommodates up to 44 guests in 22 luxuriously decorated tented suites draped in white linen. You will enjoy your meals in spectacular surroundings, dining under the stars or in the elegantly candlelit dining area with friendly staff attending to you at all times.
Little Bush Camp is decorated in contemporary African-chic and comprises six luxury suites with thatched roofs and plush furnishings. Romantically draped mosquito nets over comfortable beds and beautiful wooden finishes complete the picture. Each suite is air-conditioned, has a private viewing deck and heated spa bath, as well as an en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. All suites’ decks sport magical views overlooking the river.
The 15 well-spaced tents are nestled in a Tamboti grove on a dry riverbed. The main building comprises a large open bar area, infinity pool, and comfortable sun lounges from where you can watch wildlife drinking at the nearby waterhole. The tents offer an open veranda elevated on a wooden platform for maximum relaxation. They are furnished with soft leather couches, extra length beds, mosquito nets and open air en-suite bathrooms. Due to the layout and terrain, only children older than 12 years are allowed. Other features include a fan, mosquito net, reading material, bottled water and homely comforts.
