Upon arrival at the Kruger Gate Hotel, you’ll be greeted warmly and settle into your comfortable accommodation. Get ready to embark on an afternoon private safari drive, guided by an experienced safari expert. As you traverse the park, be prepared to encounter the majestic Big Five and an array of other wildlife species. Your guide will share their knowledge about the animals, plants, and ecosystems, ensuring a rich and educational safari experience.
The following 2 days brings a full day of safari exploration. After a delicious group breakfast, set off on an extended private safari drive, covering different areas of the Kruger National Park. Marvel at the vast landscapes, spot elusive creatures, and capture stunning photographs. Take a break for a picnic lunch in the heart of the wilderness, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.
For your final day, you have the option to embark on an additional private safari drive or choose from various activities available at the hotel. Indulge in a spa treatment, take a dip in the pool, or simply relax amidst the natural beauty surrounding you. Reflect on the incredible wildlife encounters and unforgettable moments you’ve experienced throughout your safari.
As your safari draws to a close, a private transfer will take you back to Johannesburg, allowing you to reminisce about your extraordinary journey. The group meals provided at the hotel’s restaurant create an opportunity to bond with fellow travelers, sharing stories and experiences from your safari expeditions.
The Thornybush River Lodge Considered may just be one of the best-kept secrets in the Thornybush Nature Reserve and offers an intimate safari experience ideal for special occasions. The River Lodge provides sophisticated luxury accommodation in five freestanding villa-style suites in a peaceful setting overlooking the Timbavati River. As part of the Greater Kruger conservation area, the reserve is home to herds of elephants, antelope, leopards and colourful birds guaranteeing sightings of a vast diversity of species during game drives. The relaxed and personal ambience at the lodge further creates a sense of being in a private home in the heart of the African bush.
The lodge can accommodate 44 guests in 22 individual chalets, with units decorated in contemporary style with earthy colours/ Each unit comes fitted with mosquito nets, sports a balcony with a view, en-suite bathrooms, outside shower, air conditioning, telephone, mini-bar a fireplace and seating area. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas.Dinner comprising traditional cuisine is served at the restaurant or around a boma fire under the stars. In addition to the main lodge guests can also book in one of the two additional camps.
At Saseka Tented Camp you can find a home in the African wilderness, one where you can enjoy an out-of-the-ordinary safari experience in comfort and luxury. Saseka has been described as a shining jewel in the Thornybush crown while Thornybush is one of the original nature reserves in the Greater Kruger National Park. Situated on the banks of the Monwana River, a lodge with a unique layout and balance between cutting-edge design and classical style was created to make guests feel connected to the outside environment. The main lodge area has a large, tiered deck with expansive view of the riverbed and a roof designed to mimic the dappled light of a tree canopy. This is where guests love to meet for a drink or a meal, or to just relax.
You will be collected from your address in Johannesburg early in the morning to travel eastwards via the N4 motorway through the Highveld of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, down the escarpment and into the Thornybush Game Reserve near Hoedspruit in Limpopo.
The drive may take about six to seven hours, during which you will stop for refreshments to reach the lodge around mid-day.
You will have time to freshen up and relax and depart on an open safari vehicle for your first afternoon game drive in the reserve. After watching the sun set you will return to the lodge where dinner will be ready.
You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Saseka Tented Camp and your lodging includes lunch and dinner.Â
Get up very early each morning to enjoy a hot beverage and rusks before departing on the first game drive of the day to catch some nocturnal animals still out hunting, and witness the sun rising.
You will return to the lodge to enjoy a late breakfast and can spend the rest of the day lazing around and relaxing in the tranquillity of the bush.
Your afternoon game drive will depart at about 16:00 and return after sunset just in time for another scrumptious dinner under the African skies.
You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Saseka Tented Camp and your deal includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.Â
On the last day of your stay you will get another early wake-up call, enjoy your hot beverage and rusks, and depart on the final game drive.
After experiencing another African sunrise, you return to the lodge for breakfast before departing to Johannesburg. You will arrive at your drop-off point around 17:00.
