4 Day Mantobeni Tented Lodge Safari

Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp is a remote bush camp, set in a grove of tamboti trees and reminds of Hemingway’s Africa. Guests are entertained on early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives in open game viewing vehicles and treated on sunset drinks and stunning views over the Mohwareng Hills. Large game like elephant, rhino, lion and hippo are frequently sighted in the reserve and in between meals and drives, guests can watch the game and birdlife pass by while relaxing at the pool or on guided walking safaris through the deep bush. Group tours to the nearby village of Welverdiend can be arranged, where you will learn more about the relationship between traditional and contemporary living. Other activities on site or nearby include bird watching from a newly built hide opposite a watering hole and plant life or footprint tracking. The bedroom tents breathes a colonial atmosphere and are built on wooden platforms, have roll-up walls and a run-around terrace for a closer-to-nature experience – even with sightings of elephants at the nearby waterhole from your room! Overview

The intimate Tanda Tula Safari Camp is nestled amongst enormous trees on the banks of the Nlharalumi Riverbed and comprises just secluded 12 tents for up to 24 guests. Children older than six years are welcome. Each elegant canvas tent sports a private deck and en- suite bathroom with an indoor bath and outdoor shower, while the main section of the lodge has a bar, lounge, dining room, swimming pool overlooking the watering hole, viewing deck and bird hide.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Johannesburg – Tanda Tula Safari Camp

You will be collected from your address in Johannesburg early in the morning to travel eastwards via the N4 motorway through the Highveld of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, down the escarpment and into the Timbavati Game Reserve near Hoedspruit in Limpopo.

The drive may take about six to seven hours, during which you will stop for refreshments to reach the lodge around mid-day.

You will have time to freshen up and relax and depart on an open safari vehicle for your first afternoon game drive in the reserve. After watching the sun set you will return to the lodge where a delicious dinner will be ready.

You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Tanda Tula Safari Camp and your lodging includes lunch and dinner. 

DAY 2 and 3: Tanda Tula Safari Camp

Get up very early each morning to enjoy a hot beverage and rusks before departing on the first game drive of the day to catch some nocturnal animals still out hunting, and witness the sun rising.

You will return to the lodge to enjoy a late breakfast and can spend the rest of the day lazing around and relaxing in the tranquillity of the bush.

Your afternoon game drive will depart at about 16:00 and return after sunset just in time for another scrumptious dinner under the African skies.

You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Tanda Tula Safari Camp and your deal includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. 

DAY 4: Tanda Tula Safari Camp – Johannesburg

On the last day of your stay you will get another early wake-up call, enjoy your hot beverage and rusks, and depart on the final game drive.

After experiencing another African sunrise, you return to the lodge for breakfast before departing to Johannesburg. You will arrive at your drop-off point around 17:00.

Your deal today includes breakfast at the lodge.
