Tanda Tula, which means ‘to love the quiet’ celebrates the tempo, colours and flavours of modern-day Africa as inspired by the people and wildlife of the Greater Kruger National Park. You can explore this wildlife-rich region of the Timbavati at the intimate 12-tent Tanda Tula Safari Camp amongst large trees on the banks of the Nlharalumi river. Except for deep relaxation in African elegance, you will become aware of the romance of South Africa’s unique and abundant wildlife.
Chisomo Safari Camp lives up to its name (which means “blessings”) by combining memories of a bygone era with the warmth and vibrancy of a Safari in the Africa wilderness. Situated under towering knob thorn and jackalberry trees, the camp accommodates up to 44 guests in 22 luxuriously decorated tented suites draped in white linen. You will enjoy your meals in spectacular surroundings, dining under the stars or in the elegantly candlelit dining area with friendly staff attending to you at all times.
At Pondoro you can indulge in ultimate luxury in anyone of the suites. All of them are architecturally designed and air-conditioned, offering modern comforts like a Jacuzzi, lounge area, outside shower, and a private wooden deck. The lodge consists of eight chalets catering only for 16 people, three of which overlook the Olifants River. Each chalet has an African theme and are equipped with mosquito nets.
Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp is a remote bush camp, set in a grove of tamboti trees and reminds of Hemingway’s Africa. Guests are entertained on early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives in open game viewing vehicles and treated on sunset drinks and stunning views over the Mohwareng Hills. Large game like elephant, rhino, lion and hippo are frequently sighted in the reserve and in between meals and drives, guests can watch the game and birdlife pass by while relaxing at the pool or on guided walking safaris through the deep bush. Group tours to the nearby village of Welverdiend can be arranged, where you will learn more about the relationship between traditional and contemporary living.
The lodge sleeps a maximum of 20 guests in 10 chalets or rooms, most of which sporting a small veranda with camping chairs and with views of the river, while others have views of a small plains area with a watering hole. Accommodation is comfortable and suitable for those looking for a value for money option in the Sabi Sand. All rooms are en-suite and airconditioned. Some rooms are set up to allow families or small parties of three friends with separate but connected rooms. Umkumbe has three Standard and seven Superior rooms, with the latter larger with outdoor en-suite showers.
