The Village chalets are stylish yet budget conscious. Each room has some unique decorative flourishes, but all of them are perfectly appointed to ensure maximum comfort at a budget price. Each chalet is perfectly air conditioned (pleasant throughout the whole year – but really desirable in Southern Hemisphere summer months). They also have an en-suite shower/wet room, crisp clean linen on wonderfully comfortable beds, with a daily housekeeping and turn down service. Outside each room is a patio on which to enjoy some quiet time.
Thornybush Nature Reserve is a 14 000-hectare private reserve that shares a fenceless border with the Kruger National Park. Big 5 encounters, with lion and leopard sightings in particular, entice guests while the total diversity of wildlife made Thornybush emerge as a leading safari destination. Passionate and expert guide-and-tracker teams introduce this to guests so that you leave with a genuine understanding of the entire ecosystem. The thatched main area speaks of sophistication in the design and layout, and overlooks a waterhole and riverbed often visited by elephants, buffalo and other large game. The classic lower deck is flanked by an open dining area and a beautiful bar while 20 luxurious suites fan out from the main area.
The lodge offers an enchanting view over the Makhutsi River and the spacious lounge area leading onto a deck allow the perfect opportunity to view game. You can be assured of 24-hour security, and enjoy complimentary Internet access, a library and spa. You will be assigned on of 11 spacious and air-conditioned suites, with an en-suite bathroom. The lodge offers guests a choice of five Luxury, two Family and two Executive Suites, as well as two Presidential Suites enjoying their own private plunge pools.
Sable Camp is an elegant, African themed location with air-conditioned lounge or library area with satellite television and DVD player, dining room, safari bar, expansive wooden safari deck, filtered swimming pool overlooking the Sand River and a traditional reed “boma” for evening meals. MalaMala Game Reserve was the first privately owned and commercially operated game reserve in South Africa and became the benchmark for the luxury safari industry in Southern Africa. Sable Camp is located next to MalaMala Camp, with beautiful views of the Sand River and surrounding bushveld. The reserve shares an unfenced boundary with the world-famous Kruger National Park (KNP) and has 20 kms (13 miles) of Sand River frontage, which makes the river the focus of MalaMala’s wildlife experience because it draws many animals all year round.
MalaMala Sable Camp is situated at the southern end of MalaMala Camp in an elevated position overlooking the Sand River and surrounding bushveld and is also smaller and more intimate than the main MalaMala Camp. It is ideal for those seeking a more secluded and private safari experience since it can accommodate a maximum of 20 guests in 7 suites. Some of the suites can accommodate 3 guests sharing and each comprises an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, private WC and outdoor shower.
You will be collected from your address in Johannesburg early in the morning and travel eastwards via the N4 motorway through the Highveld of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, to the Lowveld and eventually to the private MalaMala Game Reserve.
The drive may take about six hours, a scenic drive with a stop along the way for refreshments. You should reach the lodge around mid-day and have time for lunch and some relaxation before departing for your first afternoon game drive on an open safari vehicle.
After sunset you will return to the lodge where dinner will await.

Wake up early, enjoy a hot beverage and rusks before being taken on a morning game drive to catch the sun rising and spot some elusive nocturnal animals still out hunting.
You will return for a late breakfast and can spend the rest of the day lazing around at the lodge. Your afternoon game drive will depart at about 16:00 and return after witnessing the sunset – just in time for dinner around the fire in the boma.
You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Sable Camp and your deal includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On the last day of your stay you will get up early again and depart on the final game drive after a quick hot beverage and rusks.
After witnessing another African sunrise, you return to the lodge for breakfast before departing to Johannesburg. You will arrive at your drop-off point around 17:00.
