A full day in the Kruger National Park may sound exhausting, but the guides make frequent stops at rest stops and lookout points. As you travel through different grasslands and ecological zones, you will have a better chance of seeing more wildlife.
Your four-day itinerary will include a sunset / night safari on day 1, 2 full-day open vehicle safaris on day 2 and 3, and a morning safari in Kruger National Park on day 4.
On 4-day safaris, your chances are very good to see all of the Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
The Kruger National Park is home to 148 mammal and 500 bird species. So there’s a lot to see and photograph.

Pondoro Game Lodge is located on the banks of the Olifants River inside the Balule Nature Reserve. There are no fences between the reserve and the Kruger National Park, which means animals move freely between them. A safari to Africa is about intimacy, tranquility and romance of a bygone era and this small, exclusive does exactly that with its eight chalets spread out along the largest perennial river in the Greater Kruger National Park. Pondoro Game Lodge is owner managed with attention to detail, extraordinary culinary experiences and wine from an extensive wine cellar. The lodge caters for vegetarians and all meals are served on a wooden deck overlooking the Olifants River. An unforgettable bush dinner are offered to those who stay for a third night.
You will be collected from your address in Johannesburg early in the morning and travel eastwards via the N4 motorway through the Highveld of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, to the Balule Game Reserve in Limpopo.
The drive may take about six to seven hours, and you will stop along the way for refreshments. You should reach the lodge around mid-day and have time to freshen up and relax before departing for your first afternoon game drive on an open safari vehicle.
After sunset you will return to the lodge where a starlit dinner will await.
You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Pondoro Game Lodge and your lodging includes lunch and dinner.
Wake up early, enjoy a hot beverage and rusks before departing on a morning game drive to catch the rising sun and spot some nocturnal animals still out hunting.
You will return for a late breakfast at the lodge and can spend the rest of the day lazing around. Your afternoon game drive will depart at about 16:00 and return after sunset just in time for dinner around the fire.
You overnight in your luxury accommodation at Pondoro Game Lodge and your deal includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On the last day of your stay you will get up early too, enjoy your hot beverage and rusks, and depart on the final game drive.
After experiencing another African sunrise, you return to the lodge for breakfast before departing to Johannesburg. You will arrive at your drop-off point around 17:00.
