Camp Shawu is the epitome of that picture of the ‘real Africa’ painted by famous explorers during colonial times. It is an adventure camp in a private concession of the Kruger National Park and offers guests a range of activities and elegant accommodation on the edge of the Mpanamana Dam. The camp is named after a famous elephant, ‘Shawu’, who had the longest tusks ever recorded in South Africa and roamed this valley for sixty years. The suites are built out of authentic Buffalo dung walls and have decks overlooking the dam where many animals come down to drink during the day.
