By Air

 

Federal Air provides daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Nelspruit directly to the Ngala Private Game Reserve. These flights are tailored to meet the needs of safari enthusiasts, presenting a swift and comfortable transfer to the reserve’s private airstrip.

Upon touchdown, guests are greeted by lodge staff who facilitate their transfer to Ngala Safari Lodge, setting the stage for an unforgettable safari holiday.

As an alternative, travellers can use Airlink, which offers daily flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Airport.

Upon arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, guests are met by lodge staff and venture onto a scenic two-hour road transfer to Ngala Safari Lodge.

 

By Road

 

For those travelling from Johannesburg, start by taking the N12/N4 through Witbank (eMalahleni) and then turn left onto the R540 to Belfast. In Belfast, turn right towards Dullstroom and Mashishing (Lydenburg).

From Mashishing, follow the signs for the R36 to Ohrigstad, passing through the scenic Abel Erasmus Pass and the JG Strydom Tunnel. Continue on the R36, and after the Tzaneen turn-off, but before reaching Hoedspruit, turn right onto the R531 towards Klaserie/Acornhoek/Orpen.

Travel approximately 30 kilometres to the R40, pass under a railway bridge, and turn left at the Orpen sign, following this road for about 40 kilometres. At the national park gate, inform the guards that you are heading to Ngala Safari Lodge (no vehicle entrance fee, but conservation fees apply).

Drive straight, take the left fork at the ‘V’ sign for “Ngala Tented Camp,” cross the Timbavati Riverbed, and follow the signs to Ngala Safari Lodge.

For travellers coming from Nelspruit, take the R40 towards White River, continue to Hazyview, pass Bushbuckridge, and proceed to Acornhoek. At the traffic lights in Acornhoek, go straight towards Klaserie. Shortly after, turn right at the Orpen sign and follow this road for about 40 kilometres and proceed as above.

If you are arriving by air at Hoedspruit Airport, exit the airport and turn right onto Argyle Road towards the R40. At the T-junction, turn left onto the R40 and continue straight. About 2 kilometres later, turn left at the Orpen sign and follow this road for about 40 kilometres and proceed as above.

Shaded by a canopy of tamboti trees Ngala Safari Lodge has 21 thatched cottages that are designed and decorated in a classic safari style. The 17 standard, 3 family, and 1 private family cottage are all equipped with all amenities from air conditioning to outdoor showers. The lodge also overlooks a busy waterhole – offering guests spectacular views.

Ngala Tented Camp combines the sounds and atmosphere of the wilderness with the elegance and comfort of a modern safari lodge. The six permanent safari tents are equipped with:

Perched on raised platforms the tents offer views of the surrounding wilderness and the nights are filled with flickering candlelight and the sounds of the African animal kingdom.

 

Activities

 

Game drives in Ngala are an exclusive affair. Situated in a private reserve Ngala does not have to share this territory with other tour operators making sure that your game sightings are undisturbed. Ngala is unfenced allowing animals to roam freely in and out of the Kruger National Park. Game drives depart in the early morning and late afternoon, which are the busiest times in the African bush. Night drives are a special treat as you will see nocturnal species and different behaviour.

Walking safaris can be easy educational walks in the bush, where the rangers have the chance to share their detailed knowledge about the environment. You might also request to track down a certain species on foot, which always creates a unique thrill during the walks. Walking safaris are conducted by an experienced and armed ranger ensuring your safety at all times.

 

Child Policy

 

Families of two adults with children aged 0 to 5 stay complimentary, while those aged 6 to 16 are charged 50% of the adult sharing rate. Children over 16 years are subject to full adult sharing or a single rate.

Please note that children aged 0 to 5 are not allowed to participate in all activities.

 

Child Policy and Rates

 

Many of the accommodation establishments that Kruger Safari Co books for tours have a strict child policy. It is your responsibility to disclose the age of each child in the travelling group to the Kruger Safari Company agent and confirm that he/she is the appropriate age for tour accommodation. Kruger Safari Co cannot be held liable for an accommodation establishment refusing entry to an under-aged child where a child policy is strictly enforced.

Kruger Safari Co reserves the right to request a copy of a birth certificate for any child in the tour group who is confirmed to be 12 years or younger.

A children’s rate is available on request. Not all accommodation establishments offer a reduced rate for children but where applicable, Kruger Safari Co will confirm in writing at what rate a child 12 years and younger will be charged.

 

Booking Procedure:

 

Confirmation of a booking is made in writing via email once it is agreed upon by the client and the Kruger Safari Co. agent. A 100% non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of written confirmation of a booking. Where applicable, the balance of payment of a booking is required 40 days before departure. All travellers will be required to complete our online booking form to ensure that Kruger Safari Co, the reserved establishment and all service providers have the correct information required.

No quotation issued by Kruger Safari Co and accepted by the client (provisional or final), or booking made (provisional or final) shall be binding until a final invoice has been issued and full payment received by Kruger Safari Co.

 

Payment Policy

 

All Kruger Safari Co require a 100% non-refundable deposit to the value of 50% of the total tour price. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking of a tour. Full payment of the non-refundable deposit is required on written confirmation of the booking.

Arrival Day

Arrive at the Ngala Safari Lodge mid-day, in time for a light lunch. Freshen up and relax before it’s time to depart on a late-afternoon game drive in the reserve.

Overnight in a luxury suite at the Ngala Safari Lodge.

Days on safari

Wake up early for hot beverages and rusks before departing for a 3-hour sunrise game drive in the Timbivati Game reserve. Return to your lodge for a late breakfast and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the pool or treating yourself to a afternoon sleep. Depart late afternoon after High Tea for a 3-hour sunset game drive in the private reserve.

Departure day

Head out as the sun is rising to enjoy your last game drive in Timbivati Private Game Reserve. Enjoy a hearty breakfast before departing mid-morning to your next destination.
