Child Policy

 

Children below the age of 12 will not be allowed to stay on the Train on the Bridge. They will need to be accommodated in Kruger Shalati Bridge House.

  • Two sets of inter-leading suites can be booked as follows:
    • Two children (6 – 11 years) pay 50% of the adult rate sharing an inter-leading room
    • Two Children (12 years and older) pay adult rates
    • Children under 6 years old are unfortunately not allowed at Kruger Shalati Bridge House.

Participation of children in game drive activities is at the discretion of the guide.

 

Tips for Bringing Children on Safari

  • Ensure you pack essentials like sunscreen, hats, insect repellent, and comfortable clothing suitable for both warm days and cooler evenings.
  • Safari drives can be long and sometimes unpredictable, so prepare your children for the possibility of waiting patiently to spot wildlife.
  • Before embarking on your safari, educate your children about the animals they may encounter, their behaviours, and the importance of respecting wildlife and their habitats.
  • Be flexible and understanding if they need breaks or become restless during game drives. Consider shorter, child-friendly drives or scheduling downtime at the lodge between activities.
  • Encourage your children to ask questions, observe wildlife, and engage with their surroundings. Allow them to use binoculars and cameras to capture their own safari memories.
  • Remind children to stay seated and quiet during game drives to avoid startling wildlife. Respect the guidance of your experienced safari guide and adhere to any safety instructions provided.

Child Policy and Rates

 

Many of the accommodation establishments that Kruger Safari Co books for tours have a strict child policy. It is your responsibility to disclose the age of each child in the travelling group to the Kruger Safari Company agent and confirm that he/she is the appropriate age for tour accommodation. Kruger Safari Co cannot be held liable for an accommodation establishment refusing entry to an underage child where a child policy is strictly enforced.

Kruger Safari Co reserves the right to request a copy of a birth certificate for any child in the tour group who is confirmed to be 12 years or younger.

A children’s rate is available on request. Not all accommodation establishments offer a reduced rate for children but where applicable, Kruger Safari Co will confirm in writing at what rate a child 12 years and younger will be charged.

 

Getting to Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge

 

Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge is located within the iconic Kruger National Park, on the historic Selati Bridge over the Sabie River at Skukuza Rest Camp..

 

By Air

 

You can fly from Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport, which is located within the Kruger National Park.

Several airlines offer daily flights from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and from Cape Town International Airport to Skukuza Airport.

Upon arrival at Skukuza Airport, you can arrange for transportation to Skukuza Rest Camp or other accommodations within the park.

 

By Road

 

From Johannesburg head east on the N12 highway toward Witbank (eMalahleni).

Continue on the N12 until you reach the N4 highway junction. Take the N4 eastbound toward Nelspruit (Mbombela).

Follow the N4 for approximately 330 kilometres until you reach the Nelspruit area.

In Nelspruit, take the R40 northbound toward White River and Hazyview.

Follow the R40 for approximately 70 kilometres until you reach Hazyview.

In Hazyview, take the R536 road toward Paul Kruger Gate, which is one of the main entrances to the Kruger National Park.

Continue on the R536 for approximately until you reach Paul Kruger Gate.

Enter the Kruger National Park through Paul Kruger Gate and follow the signs for Skukuza, which is one of the main camps in the park.

 

Booking Procedure:

 

Confirmation of a booking is made in writing via email once it is agreed upon by the client and the Kruger Safari Co agent. A 100% non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of written confirmation of a booking. Where applicable, the balance of payment of a booking is required 40 days prior to departure. All travelers will be required to complete our online booking form in order to ensure that Kruger Safari Co, the reserved establishment and all services providers have the correct information required.

No quotation issued by Kruger Safari Co and accepted by the client (provisional or final), or booking made (provisional or final) shall be binding until such time as a final invoice has been issued and full payment received by Kruger Safari Co.

 

Payment Policy

 

All Kruger Safari Co require a 100% non-refundable deposit to the value of 50% of the total tour price. The non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking of a tour. Full payment of the non-refundable deposit is required on written confirmation of the booking.
