A safari to Africa is about intimacy, tranquility and romance of a bygone era and this small, exclusive does exactly that with its eight chalets spread out along the largest perennial river in the Greater Kruger National Park. Pondoro Game Lodge is owner managed with attention to detail, extraordinary culinary experiences and wine from an extensive wine cellar. The lodge caters for vegetarians and all meals are served on a wooden deck overlooking the Olifants River. An unforgettable bush dinner are offered to those who stay for a third night.
Little Bush Camp is decorated in contemporary African-chic and comprises six luxury suites with thatched roofs and plush furnishings. Romantically draped mosquito nets over comfortable beds and beautiful wooden finishes complete the picture. Each suite is air-conditioned, has a private viewing deck and heated spa bath, as well as an en suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. All suites’ decks sport magical views overlooking the river.
The lodge offers big five game viewing, superior service, excellent cuisine, and accommodation in the form of luxury chalets and tents in the Mpanamana Concession. The lodge can accommodate 44 guests in 22 individual chalets, with units decorated in contemporary style with earthy colours/ Each unit comes fitted with mosquito nets, sports a balcony with a view, en-suite bathrooms, outside shower, air conditioning, telephone, mini-bar a fireplace and seating area. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Dinner comprising traditional cuisine is served at the restaurant or around a boma fire under the stars. In addition to the main lodge guests can also book in one of the two additional camps.
If you’re looking for an affordable glamping accommodation in the Greater Kruger National Park, the Sekekama Tented Camp offers budget-friendly options. Accommodation include solar-powered tents, complete with beds, linens, towels, and other necessities. The camp features shared ablution facilities and a communal area for dining, socializing, and relaxation. Embark on an exhilarating safari adventure by departing from the Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport at 07:00am, in a shared minivan transfer. Traverse the picturesque landscapes of the Highveld and Lowveld in Mpumalanga, arriving at Sekekama Tented Camp by approximately 14:00. Take a moment to refresh before diving into the excitement of an afternoon sunset game drive within the Greater Kruger Blue Canyon Reserve aboard an open safari vehicle. Keep a keen eye out for the iconic Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes—as well as other fascinating wildlife like giraffes, zebras, and hippos. Conclude the day with sundowners in the bush, followed by dinner and storytelling around the boma fire back at the camp.
Your second day offers two options: an early departure for Kruger National Park with a bush breakfast en route and an earlier return, or a leisurely breakfast at the lodge before departing and returning later. Departure times will be communicated the night before, allowing flexibility based on current animal activity for optimal game viewing. Spend approximately 7 to 8 hours on a safari in Kruger, exploring the Orpen-Satara area for a heightened chance of encountering lions. Return to the camp, where you can unwind before a starlit dinner by the fire.
Spend the final morning at the Lodge or opt for a three-hour sunrise drive (additional cost of R1250 per person sharing) in the Blue Canyon within Greater Kruger. After breakfast, bid farewell and embark on your return journey to Johannesburg.
