Camp Shawu is the epitome of that picture of the ‘real Africa’ painted by famous explorers during colonial times.
The suites are built out of authentic Buffalo dung walls and have decks overlooking the dam where many animals come down to drink during the day. Guests can experience excellent game viewing from the decks of the camp and can go on game viewing drives with expert guides.
The lodge itself is designed to exist in harmony with nature with 13 ultra-luxurious suites, including the Amber Presidential Suite, that break with traditional bush lodge style to offer a masterpiece of artistry and innovation. Each suite features individually designed furniture, a private plunge pool, en-suite glass fronted bathroom and indoor and outdoor showers. The natural wooden sculptures by renowned South African artist Geoffrey Armstrong add a powerful magic.
Tintswalo Safari Lodge is located in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, with unfenced borders to the Kruger National Park, Timbavati and Sabi Sands. The Manyeleti is known for its game viewing opportunities with regular sightings of the Big 5 as well as cheetah and wild dog, with hundreds of bird species too. Guests are housed in accommodation themed after 18th century African explorers and authentically decorated to reflect the luxuries of colonial times. Experienced guides and trackers ensure the best safari and game viewing experiences in this area which boasts of the lowest vehicle densities in the Greater Kruger.

Our 5 Day Timbavati Budget Safari Experience safari is designed for those guests who would like to experience a safari to the world-renowned Kruger National Park and the Manyeleti Private game reserve whist traveling on a budget.
Day 1
Departing from the Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport bus terminal by 07:00am, you will travel east through the farmlands and onto the Kruger National Park.
Arriving at the Timbavati Safari Lodge and only 20km drive away from the Orpen Gate into the National Park, there is time check into your en-suite, air-conditioned accommodation and freshen up
The establishment offers a selection of rondavels painted with unique Ndebele traditional artwork, all with en-suite shower, washbasin, toilet, ceiling fan, a small desk area, and veranda.
All rondavels are set amid beautiful shady trees and have been designed and situated to convey an atmosphere of relaxation and peacefulness in a true African ambiance. They are fitted with mosquito nets over beds as well as window nets to keep unwelcome guests like insects out.
Most rooms are either one double or two single beds, however, there are a few rooms with a third and fourth bed. Some of the chalet rooms are connected through inter-leading doors to allow for families and guests that would prefer to be close by one another.
In the afternoon depart on your first Open vehicle safari drive in the Manyeleti Private Game reserve, that borders the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sands Private game reserve. This safari drive is for around 3 to 3 and Half hours.
Return to the Lodge at Sunset and in time for a beverage and dinner severed at the Lodge.
Day 2 , 3 and 4
Following an early wake-up call, there will be time for tea or coffee and rusks before departing for a full day open vehicle safari drive from approximately 06:00 to 15:30. Brunch is included along your route, and your guide will also stop for you to purchase refreshments further during the day.
Dinner is served under the stars at the Private Lodge on the outskirts of the National Park.
Day 4
You wake up early again and depart on an Optional sunrise safari drive in the open safari vehicle in the Manyeleti Private Game reserve(extra R950.00 per person).
Alternatively, you can enjoy the morning at the lodge before departing the Timbavati Safari Lodge at mid morning for your return transfer to Johannesburg, arriving at the Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport between 17:00 – 18:00pm
