Thornybush Game Lodge speaks of warm-hearted staff, a stunning riverbed setting and alegacy of excellence. As the first of its kind in the Thornybush Nature Reserve, opening its doors in 1961 already, this original establishment put Thornybush on the map and established a reputation of a world-class safari and game-viewing. The thatched main area speaks of sophistication in the design and layout, and overlooks a waterhole and riverbed often visited by elephants, buffalo and other large game. The classic lower deck is flanked by an open dining area and a beautiful bar while 20 luxurious suites fan out from the main area. Two of them are family Suites, while 18 of them is built with magnificent river-facing views. All are totally private and stylishly decorated with large windows above the bath and giant sliding doors to the deck offering incredible views of the riverbed and animals that may visit. Each of the 18 luxury suites has an en-suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower and was designed to provide space and privacy. Elegant finishes and extremely comfortable beds complete the picture.

These suites have large private decks with their own plunge pools. They also are elegantly designed to offer calm and rest after a game drive. Bush dinners are a firm favourite with guests, where you can enjoy a hearty meal, surrounded by lanterns, candles and the sounds of the African wilderness.
