About Londolozi Varty Camp

Londolozi Varty Camp, the oldest and largest camp within the private Londolozi Reserve, seamlessly combines history, luxury, and exceptional value. Named after the Varty family, who founded Londolozi and established the first camp in 1926, Varty Camp is celebrated for its family-friendly environment, high standards and guest satisfaction.

Londolozi Varty Camp epitomises the quintessential African safari experience, offering guests an unparalleled engagement in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Nestled along the banks of the Sand River, this camp is a testament to the harmonious coexistence between luxury accommodation and untamed wilderness.

As part of the Greater Kruger National Park, spanning an expansive six million acres and encompassing the renowned Kruger National Park, Varty Camp provides an exclusive gateway to one of Africa’s most unique wildlife sanctuaries.

The allure of Varty Camp lies not only in its natural setting but also in the abundance of wildlife that thrives in its vicinity. Here, amidst the rugged terrain and verdant landscapes, guests encounter an array of majestic creatures, from the regal elephants and formidable buffaloes to the elusive leopards that have become synonymous with the Londolozi experience.

Guided by seasoned rangers and trackers, guests embark on exhilarating game drives and bush walks, offering intimate glimpses into the lives of Africa’s most iconic species.

At the heart of Varty Camp’s ethos lies a profound reverence for nature and a commitment to conservation. For over four decades, the camp has been a beacon of sustainable tourism, championing initiatives aimed at preserving the delicate ecosystem of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

From pioneering conservation models to advocating for the protection of endangered species like the rhinoceros, Varty Camp stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of responsible tourism.

Yet, Varty Camp is more than just a safari destination; it is a sanctuary for the soul—a place where guests reconnect with nature, family, and themselves. Guided by the principles of holistic well-being, the camp offers a range of immersive experiences designed to awaken the senses and nourish the spirit.

Whether it’s a sunrise yoga session overlooking the African plains or a tranquil river cruise at dusk, every moment at Varty Camp is imbued with a sense of wonder and rejuvenation.

As part of the larger Londolozi vision, Varty Camp is committed to spearheading initiatives that transcend traditional notions of conservation and community development.

From empowering local entrepreneurs to promoting digital literacy and environmental education, the camp strives to create a legacy of positive change that extends far beyond its borders.

Accommodation at Londolozi Varty Camp

Varty Camp offers eight standard chalets and two superior chalets that are all crafted to blend in perfectly with the surrounding landscape. With their 15-meter intervals, these timber-and-thatch buildings offer seclusion and stunning river views.

The chalets are furnished in classic Londolozi style, featuring a palette of whites, creams, dark woods, and rich leather. Each standard chalet includes a king-size bed or twin beds with mosquito nets, bedside tables with lighting, ample storage space, air conditioning, ceiling fans, a telephone, mini-bar, safe, hairdryer, and internet access.

The en-suite facilities are thoughtfully designed with a flush toilet, twin washbasins, and a step-up shower. Outside, each chalet, there’s a private deck complete with a sala and a plunge pool, ideal for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful surroundings.

The two superior chalets are ideal for families because they have inter-leading chalets available and they have all the amenities of the standard chalets plus extras that increase comfort and space. These include extra bed space and an outdoor shower, providing a unique connection with nature.

Instead of an en-suite shower room, the superior chalets have a shared bathroom, catering to the needs of larger groups.
